Moments Captured: Christmas Celebrations at CNI

Local college students organized a Christmas party for the kids at CNI.  The kids were really  surprised  that a huge group came and they weren't from the states. One of my first graders asked me, "Do they speak English?" Seeing the kids worldview being changed brings me so much joy!
I enjoyed watching our kids being ministered to by young adults that "spoke Spanish".
This young lady took create care of one of our kids with special needs and helped him make a craft.  Priceless moments!
Orlando enjoying making a Christmas ornament "Joy to the World"

Each of our kids received a gift from one of the college students .
Little Sparkling Cindy showing off her Christmas stocking.  She had a lot of fun making her craft, not sure which ended up having more glitter on it the paper or her precious smile.
Angel Jr. and Kevin showing off their presents.
Of course you can not truly have a party without a piñata!

Flor asked Rebecca "Why did they write Flor always smiles? How did they know  I smile all the time!"
 Precious Moment!

Fingerprint of God: Jessica

Jessica receiving her diploma at her 6th grade graduation
Fingerprint of God: Jessica
As I began talking to Jessica I realized how asking questions to these children will be breaking a huge wall that is up. Many of these do not talk to adults or share about their lives. So for an adult to have the desire to talk to child and ask questions is very rare. It took a while for Jessica to reply to my questions but I waited in the silence with patience and a smile.

Jessica is another 6th grade graduate of 2011. Jessica started attending CNI when it first opened in 2008. Jessica enjoys coloring and playing games here at CNI. She is thankful for the staff at CNI. She appreciates how CNI has helped her learn more about the Bible and how she has received help with math.  She thanks the Lord for her family and friends. Her desire is to go to high school starting in February and study computer science.

Fingerprints of God

" Every child you encounter is a divine appointment." - Wess Stafford, President of Compassion International
God has graciously given us 106 precious children at CNI (Children Nutrition Center) to care for, teach, mentor, discipline, and share His word. As a staff at CNI we do not take our responsibility lightly. These children I have been blessed to be able to serve continue to capture my heart. They are so precious and each day they teach me something. I am humbled by the lessons about life, attitude, and faith they teach me. I wish that all of those who read this blog that you would be able to meet these precious children personally, but I know that is not possible. I hope to use this blog to share about my journey of faith in serving my Lord but also to share my journey of walking alongside this children. I hope you will look forward to reading more about this children and maybe bit by bit they may begin to capture your heart too.
Fingerprint of God: Perla

Perla is one of little words but can express so much through her eyes. She enjoys playing games at CNI. She give thanks to the Lord for her family, friends, and for the staff of CNI. One of the things she has learned while being here at CNI is to be kind to others, to not say bad words, and to respect others. One of the blessings she as expereinced from being apart of CNI is being taught the word of God.

Perla just graduated from 6th grade in November.  The whole week prior to her graduation she would come up to me and give me hug, but wouldn't want me to let go. She was really struggling with the idea of graduating because that means a lot of uncertainty for kids. She hopes to go to continue her education in February. She wants to be a police officer when she gets older.

Please pray for Perla and our other 10 other 6th graders that graduated as the ponder what they will do next.
