How do you wait ?
- Do you remain or rest in expectation?
- Do you tarry until another catches up?
- Are you constantly in a state of readiness?
- Do you think that are being temporarily neglected or unattended to?
I enjoy traveling. I think airports are one of my favorite places to people watch. In my recent travels I was observing how people were reacting as they were having to wait. There were people that were using everyone moment possible to make correspondence through a variety sources of technology, not a moment "wasted". There were some that were content in secluding themselves from activity and noise around them. Some were anxious and couldn't mange to sit still long enough for me to finish reading two sentences in my book. Then there were the people just sat and thought. Each of the reactions challenged me to think about how I wait, especially in regards to plans for the future.
When I think about waiting in my relationship with God. I think my attitude and how I react displays my trust in God. Am I filled with peace as I wait? Am I resting in expectation that He is faithful to complete what He started or am I taking control of the entire situation?Having plan A, B, C....ready and thinking through every scenario possible. Am I tarring until God catches up with what I think the "plan" is? Am I in a constant state of readiness, in being alert to how God is working? Do I think that I am being temporarily neglected or unattended to by God?
"Waiting isn't about the suspension of meaning and purpose. It's part of the meaning and purpose that God has brought into my life. Waiting on God isn't to be viewed as an obstruction in the way of the plan. Waiting is an essential part of the plan. For the child of God, waiting isn't simply about what I'll receive at the end of my wait. No, waiting is much more purposeful, efficient, and practical than that. Waiting is fundamentally about what I'll become as I wait. God is using the wait to do in and through me exactly what He's promised. Through the wait He's changing me. By means of the wait He's altering the fabric of my thoughts and desires. Through the wait He's causing me to see and experience new things about Him and His kingdom. And all of this sharpens me, enabling me to be a more useful tool in His redemptive hands". Paul Tripp

I like your definition of peace. It's not just the absence of fighting with guns and bayonet. Peace to you!
