My name is Kevin Abegg and I oversee Latin America Mission’s Ministries department. We are very excited about having Heather join us here at LAM’s Miami Service Office for the near future, and I am sure that her time will not only serve the mission but contribute towards her training and preparation for eventual deployment to the mission field.

As you may know, Latin America Mission is dedicated to in depth partnerships with Churches and Ministries throughout Latin America. We believe that national ministries are much more acquainted with the needs of the Latin Church than any North American organization could ever be. It’s these ministry partnerships, including with Heather’s own target ministry La Casa de Mi Padre in El Salvador, that the Ministries department of LAM seeks to assist through connecting them with missionary candidates such as Heather, networking them with other ministries to work in partnership, developing and assisting them in various programs or helping resolve issues that may arise.

Heather’s work here in Miami will provide her with an excellent understanding of the many focuses our partner ministries have, be that child care, evangelism, theological education, health care, or church planting to name only a few. She will be helping us communicate with these ministries and taking an active role in some of the projects we and our partner ministries are working on. Her time here will also advance her Spanish comprehension and speech in that 75% of our office is comprised of Spanish speakers and nearly all of our associate ministries function in Spanish. With this in mind, we have a few housing options for her including a Spanish speaking household, depending on what suits her needs.

I will be in Miami by June 16th. I am blown away by this opportunity that God has opened !
